It has already been a hugely successful week in the ATP Finals for Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard is back at world number one and now he faces Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semi-finals of this tournament. Read our match prediction below.
To return to the world number one ranking, Alcaraz needed to win each of his three group matches. That is just what he managed to do with wins over Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz and Lorenzo Musetti, losing just one set. That was in his match against Fritz when losing the first set on a tie-break.
Felix Auger-Aliassime probably wasn’t thinking about reaching the semi-finals at one stage this week. The Canadian lost his opening group match to Jannik Sinner and struggled with a calf injury. He then dropped the first set of his match against Ben Shelton but hasn’t looked back since then.
Shelton was beaten and then on Friday night, he beat Alexander Zverev in straight sets. That took the eighth seed into this semi-final.
Auger-Aliassime trails Alcaraz 4-3 in previous matches but leads 3-2 on hard courts. All his wins came in their first three matches and Alcaraz has won four in a row. The winner faces either Jannik Sinner or Alex de Minaur and we tip Alcaraz wins in straight sets.
