Group D at the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers will be decided on Monday afternoon when Cape Verde play host to Eswatini in Praia. The Blue Sharks lead the group standings, while the King’s Shield are bottom of the table. Let’s get into the match prediction. 

This is arguably the biggest day in the history of Cape Verde football, as a victory in this match will guarantee them qualification for their first World Cup main draw ever!

The Blue Sharks kept their qualification fate in their own hands by coming back from two goals down to pull off a 3-3 draw against Libya last week. They are two points ahead of second-placed Cameroon. 

The hosts are unbeaten at home in this competition with three wins and a draw. Notably, they have not conceded a single goal on home turf in these qualifiers. 

Meanwhile, Eswatini have endured a very difficult World Cup qualification campaign, managing only three points from nine games, all by way of draw results. 

The King’s Shield played out a 2-2 draw last week against Angola and have now failed to win any of their last seven matches across all competitions, dating back to December last year. 

All four of the visitors' away matches in this competition have ended in defeat - they also failed to score in three of those games.
