Brest and Saint-Etienne will go head-to-head in Ligue 1 this Saturday, both seeking the elusive first win of the season. While visiting Saint-Etienne were tipped to struggle, Brest’s start has been a bit concerning. Read on as we look at the match to offer a prediction.

Les Pirates were expected to do well after their run last season saw them secure a Champions League slot. However, it has been painful so far at Stade Francis-Le Blé two matches into the season. Brest suffered a humiliating 5-1 home loss at the start of the season.

On Match Day 2, their trip to Lens ended in a 2-0 loss. It isn’t a secret that the first two matches were against formidable opponents. With those out of the way, Eric Roy will be more positive as they face a newly promoted side.

The last time these two sides faced off, Mahdi Camara’s brace lifted Saint-Etienne to a 2-1 win against Brest. Camara is now at Brest and will hope to do the same on the other side.

Before that win, Les Verts had lost four straight matches against Brest. That was in 2022 and two years later, their return to Ligue 1 hasn’t started well. Saint-Etienne are one of the three teams yet to score after the opening two rounds.
