Gameweek 16 in the Championship will see Preston North End make the short trip to Ewood Park to take on Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers on Friday night. The hosts are currently in tenth place in the league standings, while the visitors are sixth. With just eight points separating the team in third place from the team in 13th, a win for either side should give them a bump in the right direction. Blackburn come into this match following a 3-1 win over Norwich City last weekend. That was their fourth win in their last five matches, with the only loss in that time coming against Swansea City at the end of last month. However, three of those victories were in away matches, while the Rovers have only won one of their last four on home soil. During that time, they were beaten by Sunderland, Leicester City, and The Swans. The hosts lost the last meeting between these sides at this venue but are the favourites at the books in this one. 

Meanwhile, Preston were excellent at the start of the season but hit a wall in mid-August that saw them go seven consecutive matches without a victory. In that time, they lost four and drew three, which also saw them slip out of the top four places in the league standings. However, The Lilywhites snapped up that dismal run with a hard-fought 3-2 win against Coventry City last week and will hope that result marks a turning point for them. PNE will be hoping to halt a run of three consecutive losses in away matches. They conceded a total of eight goals and scored just two in that time. Nevertheless, that win last week would have been a huge confidence boost, and they cannot be ruled out of this match just yet.
