Belinda Bencic has turned the corner in the Ningbo Open after her disappointing campaign in Wuhan. She began with a straight-set victory over 56th-ranked Magda Linette in the round of 32. The 28-year-old won 100% of her service games en route to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Linette. 

She followed that up with a three-set victory over World No. 131 Yuliia Starodubtseva in the round of 16. She has won five of her last seven matches (excluding the walkover victory over Elise Mertens in the Wuhan Open).

Jasmine Paolini ousted World No. 31 Veronika Kudermetova in straight sets in the round of 16. The three-time WTA singles champion aced 80% of her service games to oust the former World No. 9 6-2, 7-5 in one hour, 31 minutes.

She has won four of her last five matches and boasts an impressive 14-5 record in her last 19 matches on hard courts. However, the Italian sensation will face a tough test against Belinda Bencic, having lost all three of her last encounters with the Swiss.
