There’s a lot to play for on the final day of the main Top 14 season. Second-placed Bordeaux Begles are home to RC Vannes who are bottom of the table. Can RC Vannes avoid relegation? Here’s our match prediction.
Recently crowned European champions Bordeaux are only a point clear of third-placed RC Toulon. The Begles cannot finish top of the table but holding onto second is vital for them. That’s because the top two automatically go into the play-offs at the semi-final stage.
Bordeaux were beaten at RC Toulon last weekend, their seventh away league loss of the season. At home, the Begles have won ten of their 12 home league matches, most recently defeating Castres Olympique.
RC Vannes are in the only automatic relegation position. They are four points behind USA Perpignan who are in the relegation play-off spot and five adrift of 12th-placed Stade Francais Paris.. They trail Perpignan on head-to-head results but are ahead of Stade Francais Paris. If they are to have a chance of staying up, they don’t just need to win this match but also get a bonus point.
Last week saw them lose 52-26 at home to Section Paloise. Ten of their 12 away league games have been lost.
