Group A in the Europa League will see Backa Topola play host to Freiburg on Thursday evening. The hosts are currently at the bottom of the group standings with one point, while the visitors are in second place and on three points. Backa Topola made a very positive start to the season, unbeaten in their first seven league matches, including six wins and a draw. However, after losing their first match of the season to West Ham in this competition last month, things have taken a slight downturn for the hosts. They drew their last match 1-1 against Vozdovac, which extended their recent record to six matches without a win in all competitions. During that time, they also drew 2-2 to Olympiacos and were knocked out of their domestic Cup by Smederevo 1924. The hosts have conceded two or more goals in each of their last three home games and won just one of their last six. As a result, the bookies make them the underdogs in this one. 

Meanwhile, after finishing fifth in the Bundesliga last season, Freiburg have found it significantly more difficult this term. They are currently in eighth place in their domestic league with 13 points, four behind RB Leipzig, who are currently in the Europa League qualification spot. The international break seems to have helped the visitors, though, as they claimed a much-needed 2-1 win over Bochum last weekend. That followed back-to-back losses to Bayern Munich and West Ham in week two of this competition. Breisgau-Brasilianer’s away form of late has also been poor, with one win in their last four, while they failed to score in three of those matches. Still, the Bundesliga side have the better quality in their ranks and are heavily fancied to win this match.
