Australia’s march towards the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup knockouts will see them clash with Bangladesh on Thursday. This will be match #17 of the tournament to be played at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, and our prediction is for Annabel Sutherland to be the top Australian bowler.
Australia are top of the points table after Tuesday’s matches with seven points from four matches (W3, NR1) and one point ahead of England, who have a game in hand. Bangladesh are sixth with two points (W1, L3) and are still two points outside the knockout places.
The record seven-time and defending champions have been in sparkling form this tournament, defeating New Zealand (by 89 runs), Pakistan (by 107 runs) and edging out India (by three wickets). The only blip was the no result against Sri Lanka due to rain.
Alyssa Healy has been Australia’s best batter (181 runs) in the tournament, while Beth Mooney and Ashleigh Gardner have hit individual centuries as well. Annabel Sutherland’s 10 wickets remain the best aggregate in the tournament.
Bangladesh started the tournament with a seven-wicket win over Pakistan but went downhill from there. They lost to England (four wickets), New Zealand (100 runs) and South Africa (three wickets). The loss to South Africa was a lost chance, as Bangladesh came very close to upsetting the odds.
