Fourth placed Atletico Madrid will be up against Villarreal in their next La Liga game on Sunday. A loss to Las Palmas saw Atletico drop a place in the standings while Villarreal come to this game placed 13th. A second half capitulation saw Atletico lose 2-1 away to Las Palmas in their last league game. However, they recovered to hammer Celtic 6-0 in the Champions League in their most recent game. Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann scored two each in the win over Celtic. The duo has been in great form this season and will want to take the same here. In the last five matches, the two have scored a combined 11 goals. Atletico Madrid have however managed just two clean sheets in eight league matches. Both sides scored in four of their last five league games.

Villarreal also lost their last league game, falling 3-2 at home to Athletic Bilbao. However, like Atletico, they recovered in Europe. Villarreal are coming from a 2-1 away win at Maccabi Haifa, their third win in four matches. They will hope to carry this run to the game against Atletico. However, like Atletico, they too haven't kept a lot of clean sheets in recent matches. The visitors have just one clean sheet in six matches and thus defence is a key area that needs addressing. While they haven't lost to Atletico in the last four meetings, they’ve failed to keep clean sheets in three. Both sides have scored in three of the last four meetings between the two sides.
