Aryna Sabalenka lives on, as far as her US Open title defence is concerned. The Belarussian is scheduled to meet Cristina Bucsa in the fourth round. This first match between them will produce a winner to face Elena Rybakina or Marketa Vondrousova. Read on for our prediction.

Sabalenka has had to earn her place here. In her latest outing, she needed a tiebreaker to beat Leylah Fernandez in straight sets. That win improves her record for the season to 53-10, and hard courts have been her favorite surface.

She hasn’t lost a fourth-round match, and here she looks to add to her three titles this season. Sabalenka has, however, suffered painful defeats in four finals, including two at majors. 

Bucsa has had a solid run here so far, and beating 19th seed Elise Mertens in the last round is the highlight. She did it in three sets and will hope to recover in time for this next match, a bigger challenge.

The Spaniard has advanced to the fourth round for the first time this season. It is a milestone for Bucsa, who reached the first round at the French Open, the second round at the Australian Open, and third at Wimbledon.

Bucsa comes into this match on a shaky 26-25 record and is 62nd in the live rankings.
