Argentina and Italy will face off in the third round of 16 match at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball World Championships on Sunday afternoon. The winner of this match between La Seleccion and Gli Azzurri will meet either Belgium or Finland in the quarter-finals. Let’s get into the match prediction. 

Argentina made the most of a favourable draw in the group stage and are set for a sub-16 finish at the World Championships for an 11th consecutive edition dating back to 1982. 

La Seleccion ended the group stage at the top of Pool C with three wins in three games, with their most recent being a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the favoured France team on Thursday.  

Luciano Vicentin led the team with 22 points in the victory over Les Bleus, while Pablo Koukartsev is the team’s highest scorer at the competition with 51 points. 

Meanwhile, Italy was given a tough challenge during their group stage but managed to finish in second place, keeping their hopes of defending their World Championship title alive. 

Gli Azzurri suffered an unexpected 3-2 loss to Belgium in between a pair of whitewash victories over Algeria and Ukraine. That was just their third defeat in 15 matches across all competitions. 

In their last match, Alessandro Michieletto top-scored with 13 points. The outside hitter is also the team's highest scorer in the competition this year with 44 points (15th overall).
