Second seed Iga Swiatek and Anna Kalinskaya will meet in the third round at the US Open. This will be the second match between them in August and third overall. The winner will face Ekaterina Alexandrova or Laura Siegemund next, and below we have a prediction.

Kalinskaya claimed a straight-sets win over Swiatek in their first-ever meeting in Dubai last year and progressed to the final. Her latest defeat was against Swiatek, and she will be eyeing revenge and a big leap here.

The Russian hasn’t gone past the third round in the majors this season, and she's never achieved that at Flushing Meadows. After beating Yulia Putintseva, Kalinskaya is 32nd in the live ranking. 

Swiatek earned her revenge for the Dubai loss by beating Kalinskaya in Cincinnati. She then marched on to a title run and will be gunning for the same here.

The world number two has had an impressive run in third-round matches, compiling a 13-1 record this season. At the Grand Slams, she progressed past this round, going on to win the title in Wimbledon.

All signs point to her taking the head-to-head lead in this fixture. The Pole, however, had to sweat through her second-round win over Suzan Lamens, needing three sets after losing the middle one. The 2002 champion reached at least the fourth round here in the last four years.
