The second round of the 2023 BNP Paribas will continue this Saturday, and in our featured match, we will see Pablo Carreno Busta take on Andy Murray in what should be an entertaining match. Busta has had a poor start to 2023, bowing out in the first round of his opening tournament for the year in Adelaide. Thereafter, the Spaniard recorded his first and only win of the year in the Australian Open, overcoming Pedro Cachin in three sets (7-6, 6-1, 7-6), but failed to pass the second round, narrowly losing to Benjamin Bonzi (4-6, 6-7, 6-1, 7-6). After almost a month out, Busta returned to action in Rotterdam but was beaten in his opening match against Richard Gasquet in three sets. Busta has had a much shorter season than most thus far and needs the court time as he tries to find his best form.
Meanwhile, Andy Murray has steadily improved as the season has progressed, and after a difficult couple of years on and off the court, the Scot is starting to show his true fighting spirit once again. Murray made it to the final of his last tournament in Doha, where he lost to Daniil Medvedev in straight sets (6-4, 6-4). Aside from that final, each of Murray’s last eight matches has gone to three or more sets, which will be taking its toll on the 35-year-old. Murray beat Tomas Etcheverry in the first round on Thursday and looked in good nick, and will be hoping to go one better in this tournament than his last.
