Albania will hope to get off the bottom when they host Moldova at the Air Albania Stadium on Saturday. This Euro 2024 Group E fixture will see the hosts on zero points after one match, while the visitors are 3rd with two points from two games. Albania were beaten 1-0 by Poland in their campaign opener back in March. That extended an indifferent sequence of matches with the hosts winning just once across ten matches. As they look to emulate the success of Euro 2016 qualification, the hosts need to improve their form immediately. Even in the qualifiers, they have won just one of their last five matches, losing three and drawing one. At least on that front, the home form is distinctly different. Albania have won two and drawn one of their last five Euro home matches. The only loss in this sequence came in their most recent home game, against France back in the 2019 qualifiers.

As Albania look to start their home campaign on a high, Moldova could play spoil sport. They started the competition with back-to-back draws, both coming at home. Moldova drew 1-1 with Faroe Islands before holding Czech Republic to a goalless stalemate. This sequence has halted a seven-game losing streak in the qualifier but leaves them without a win since June 2019. They have avoided defeat in five of their last seven matches, which should give them belief of winning at least a point from this trip. Yet, away form remains a big hurdle for the visitors. Moldova have failed to win their last 13 away Euro qualifiers, losing 11 of those. With seven of those coming in a row and six without scoring, Moldova’s chances of winning here look bleak.
