Afghanistan will be aiming for their first point of the second round of AFC World Cup qualifying when they host India. Their recent form doesn’t inspire confidence, though, as Afghanistan have won just two of their last 13 international matches.

India are looking to make a comeback themselves after getting dumped out of the AFC Asian Cup. They lost four matches in a row, and it was the first time that they lost that many in a row in over six years. India narrowly defeated Kuwait on matchday one, 1-0, with a second-half strike. They were then defeated 3-0 by group leaders Qatar, underscoring the gulf between sides. They still have their chances to stay in the top two sides of the group by picking up at least one point. India has never qualified for the World Cup final, and coach Igor Stimac has already said it would be huge for the nation to even reach the third round.
