AC Milan will be looking to end a six-game winless run when they welcome Cagliari in their next Serie A game. Placed second, Milan are assured of a spot in the Champions League while Cagliari still need six points to guarantee survival. Milan will rightly feel relaxed, having hit 71 points, but will hope they can bounce back, to avoid finishing lower. In their last outing, Milan came from behind twice and were close to bagging three points against Genoa. However, a late Malick Thiaw own goal saw the game end 3-3. That was their second straight draw and Milan will be gunning for some improvement in their penultimate home game. Having dominated this fixture, Milan will head out confident of claiming their 22nd win of the season. This will be the third meeting between these two this season. The most recent was in the Coppa Italia, which Milan won 4-1, while the reverse league fixture ended in a 3-1 win. Milan are now undefeated in their last 12 matches against Cagliari.

Cagliari’s Serie A future is still unclear, as they sit just three points above the relegation zone. They were unfortunate not to claim three points in their last outing, drawing 1-1 with Lecce. Yerry Mina’s opening goal in the match had them well on course until a late concession denied them three points. Earlier in the match Cagliari were reduced to 10-man after Gianluca Gaetano’s sending off just before half time. The goal conceded in that game meant Cagliari have no clean sheet in their last eight matches. They failed to score in two of them but five had over 2.5 goals with both teams scoring in four. Cagliari’s seven wins in the league this season is among the lowest winning tallies in the league. However, for a promoted side, they’ve done well going into the final three matches of the season. They don’t have much to show for their away form in the league though. The visitors managed just a win all season away from home in Serie A, against Empoli.
