This week, from 13 to 19 October, it is the turn of the ATP 250 tournament in Stockholm to welcome the tennis world for its 2025 edition! And this season, one thing is certain: the name of the winner will be different from last year's, as American Tommy Paul has not made the trip to Sweden to defend his title.

The British participation

Two English players have already qualified for the main draw of this Swedish tournament, whose tennis predictions can be followed here: Jacob Fearnley and Arthur Fery. In 2024, Fearnley was knocked out in the round of 16 by Griekspoor.

Fearnley, ranked 81st in the world, has not made it past the round of 16 in a tournament since the HSBC Championships last June.Meanwhile, Arthur Fery, ranked 221st in the world, is coming off two Challenger tournaments where he reached the quarter-finals. They will have their work cut out for them as they face players who are much higher ranked than them and more accustomed to going far in ATP tournaments.

A Dutch attempt

Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor is trying his luck again in this Swedish tournament. A semi-finalist last season against Grigor Dimitrov, the 29-year-old is not in the best shape to hope for the same success in the capital. Despite winning a set against Jannik Sinner at the Shanghai Masters 1000, an opponent who ultimately withdrew during their match, Tallon Griekspoor has lost 80% of his last 10 matches. Having failed to perform since winning the title on grass in Mallorca in June, he seems to be struggling and hopes of winning the title this year seem far too ambitious.

ATP 250 Stockholm: a Danish hope

More specifically, it is the number 1 seed, Holger Rune, who is expected to win the grand final. Having already won in front of the Swedish crowd in 2022, the Dane is trying his luck again in the hope of adding a title to his unsuccessful season. With only one title to his name, won on clay in Barcelona against Carlos Alcaraz, the 22-year-old is capable of performing much better on both clay and hard courts, having won tournaments in Munich, Stockholm and Paris-Bercy in 2022.

A quarter-finalist in Cincinnati, Tokyo and more recently Shanghai, the Dane is still close to another success this season. His recent defeat in Shanghai against Monaco's Valentin Vacherot put an end to his hopes of qualifying for the ATP Finals at the end of the season. With the end of the year fast approaching, the Dane will be looking to console himself in this tournament, which he knows well, in the hope of adding a second title to his season and boosting his confidence for the weeks ahead.

Our ATP 250 Stockholm winner prediction: Holger Rune wins the title!
