Diana Shnaider will look to turn the corner after her recent setbacks as she begins her campaign in the Ningbo Open against Xiyu Wang today. Can the Russian sensation defeat her Chinese counterpart to qualify for the next round? Here is our prediction for the match. 

Diana Shnaider secured her Ningbo Open slot as the seventh seed in the tournament and is under pressure to bounce back from her recent misfortunes. The five-time WTA singles champion recently exited the Seoul Open in her first round, losing in straight sets to 57th-ranked Suzan Lamens in September. Her journey in the Beijing Open later that month also ended in the first round following another straight-sets defeat to 34th-ranked Maya Joint. 

Things didn't improve for the 21-year-old earlier this month in the Wuhan Open as well. She was ousted again in the first round by Katerina Siniakova following a third consecutive straight-set defeat. 

Xiyu Wang secured her berth in the Ningbo Open as a wild card entry after losing the Wuhan Open qualifying final to 81st-ranked Moyuka Uchijima earlier this month. She has won two of her last four matches, including a 2-1 victory over higher-ranked (World No. 72) Cristina Bucsa in the Wuhan Open qualification semi-final.  The 24-year-old enters this match in better form and has won both of her encounters with Diana Shnaider in straight sets.
