18th placed West Ham United host bottom-of-the-table Southampton in a vital Premier League game. West Ham are a point from safety and have a game in hand but need to reproduce their Europa Conference League form in the Premier League. Ten out of ten games have been won in that competition but just six out of 26 in the Premier League. It's tight at the bottom of the table and the Hammers are only a point from safety and three points behind 12th placed Crystal Palace. Only one of their last six Premier League games has ended in victory. That was a 4-0 home win over Nottingham Forest. That's one of five home league wins this season but on the road, they have only won one game and scored just seven goals. Home wins are important therefore and eight points have been earned from the last four at the London Stadium. The problem is that after this game, the next four home league games are all against sides in the top six.

Southampton are propping up the table but are only two points from safety. A win at West Ham will take them above their opponents. They come into this game having failed to win any of their last three Premier League fixtures. They did well to get a point from their final game before the international break. The Saints trailed Tottenham 3-1 but two late goals rescued a valuable point. Southampton have won four away league games this season, double the amount of home wins. Only one of their last four away league fixtures has been won. That was a 1-0 victory at Chelsea but the other three games have seen them fail to win. Go for a home victory here.
