Tottenham vs West Ham Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur will host West Ham United in one of the matches lined up this Sunday as the Premier League returns after the international break. After four matches, one point separates the sides, sixth placed Spurs on seven points and 10th placed West Ham on six points. Both sides were slow starters to the league season but have since gotten their groove. Tottenham have expertly negotiated through a tough run of fixtures in the early stages of the season and more crucially, have posed a serious attacking threat with their every move forward. Key men Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min already have nine goals between them and have established a very good connection in attack. Right before the international break, Spurs whacked Manchester United 6-1 at Old Trafford in a game that came after a 7-2 win over Maccabi Haifa in the Europa League. One thing will bother Spurs though; they have no clean sheet in their last nine competitive matches. Even in matches that they have been in total control, Spurs have let in a goal or two; they are devastating in the defensive flanks but major concerns have been seen in central defence. They have also not won at home in their opening two league matches at their backyard, losing to Everton and drawing with Newcastle United. The dropped points at home will be down to a shaky central defence and it seems manager Jose Mourinho will still carry those concerns here.

A shaky Spurs defence is the best news West Ham will want to see going to this game, after their two explosive league matches. They hit Wolves 4-0 and Leicester City 3-0 in their most recent league matches. Their 4-1 loss to Everton in the Carabao Cup in between the two wins will be quickly forgotten as they hope to add Spurs to their list of casualties. The Hammers lost their two opening matches but their effort was clear to see; after the 2-0 opening loss to Newcastle United, they gave a good fight in the 2-1 loss to Arsenal before winning back to back in their last two league games. While Spurs has their dangerous duo in Kane and Son, West Ham have Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen, who have scored five between them in the league so far. Bowen and Antonio may not be as potent as Kane and Son but they still hold a big enough threat. West Ham have played seven matches so far, including in the Carabao Cup, and have failed to score in just one, their opening loss to Newcastle United. When playing away from home though, West Ham are not the best to bank on. Well, they won 3-0 at Leicester in their last away league game, but that was only their second win in 12 away league matches. They have also lost nine of their last 15 away league matches but crucially, they have managed to score in each of the last five away league matches. In their last five matches against Spurs, West Ham have lost four and won one; in their last meeting, they lost 2-0 in June at this same venue and it marked the first time in four meetings that they failed to score against Spurs.
