Sumit Nagal vs Lorenzo Sonego Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Dubai Open

Unseeded Lorenzo Sonego faces wild card Sumit Nagal in the first round of the outdoor hard court Dubai Tennis Championships. There's a tough task awaiting the winner of this match as the victor will take on either top seed a(and defending champion) Daniil Medvedev or Alexander Shevchenko. Sonego is at 48th in the live rankings and that's well below his career high of 21st. The Italian is having a difficult year so far and has won only two of his eight matches played in 2024. Each of his last three matches has been lost, most recently being beaten by Pavel Kotov in the first round of the hard court tournament played in Doha. He has had some tough draws this year and that includes playing both Carlos Alcaraz and Grigor Dimitrov. His two wins have come against Dan Evans and Yannick Hanfmann.

Sumit Nagal is 97th in the live list and that's a new career high. He has been getting more wins than Sonego this year but on the Challenger Tour. Nagal won the Chennai tournament and reached the last four in Bengaluru. Those wins have come against lower ranked players though. He did get to the second round of this year's Australian Open, beating Alexander Bublik in the last 128. His most recent tournament was the Pune Challenger and he lost in round two to Niki Kaliyanda Poonacho. This is tougher and we tip Sonego to get the win.
