Sporting Lisbon finished second in their Europa League group but mainly because of their home record. They look to get a good lead in the first leg of this last 32 tie as they host Istanbul Basaksehir. Sporting are currently fourth in the Portuguese Primeira League but 17 points adrift of the top two, so another season in the Europa League is looking likely. That's unless they can win the Europa League of course. Sporting have only lost two of their last ten at home and those losses were against the top two of Benfica and Porto. In the Europa League, they have won seven out of their nine home games played in the last couple of years. Only Villarreal and Arsenal have been able to come away with victories.

Istanbul Basaksehir are in second place in the Turkish Super Lig. They trail Trabzonspor by a point but have played a game more than their rivals. The Turkish side have one loss in their last seven competitive fixtures, an away loss at Fenerbahce. Their last three games have all seen them fail to win with two draws and just one goal scored. They have had three wins in their ten away Europa League games but did win two of their games when winning their group this season. This is a tough task though and in their current form, Sporting can get the home win.
