The spectacular Estadio Municipal de Braga will host Thursday’s Europa League clash between hosts Braga and visitors Maccabi Tel Aviv. Braga come into this game with just one defeat all season. They have been very solid in European competition, winning four and drawing two of their six games in the Europa League qualifiers to comfortably reach the league stage.
They defeated Maccabi Petah Tikva (7-0), Servette (2-1) and then Rapid Vienna (4-3) on aggregate to reach this stage.
Israeli Champions Maccabi Tel Aviv have started the season well, winning all four of their league games and all of their Europa League fixtures. Their sole defeat was a 1-0 loss (2-1 on aggregate) to Steaua Bucharest in the Champions League qualifiers.
To reach the league stage, Maccabi defeated Panevezys 5-1 on aggregate and then were even more dominant in their Playoff tie, getting the better of Backa Topola 8-1 on aggregate over the two legs.
With a good pedigree of qualifying for the league stage, Maccabi Tel Aviv will be hoping to maintain their record of reaching the knockout phase of European competition in three of the last four years.
