Serbia will take on Japan in one of the standout matches on opening day in Week 2 of the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League on Wednesday. Ryujin Nippon have a perfect record in this competition, and we fancy them to keep it that way for our match prediction.

Serbia produced a solid effort in Week 1 of the 2026 VNL, winning three of their first four matches against Argentina, Belgium and Bulgaria, while only losing to league leaders Brazil.

Meanwhile, Japan were one of only two teams, along with Brazil, to make a perfect start to the 2026 VNL, winning all four of their matches on the bounce against Ukraine, Poland, China and Slovenia. 

Ran Takashi has been Ryujin Nippon’s most effective player in the competition, currently on 75 points, including an impressive seven aces. Taishi Onodera leads the team in blocks with seven. 

Japan are in second place and on a five-match win streak. Their last two wins against this opponent came in this competition with 3-0 scorelines.
