Two bottom-dwellers of the form table meet this weekend when Schalke, without a victory in eight matches, host Augsburg, who have not won any of their last six matches. Despite these pitiful runs, the two teams are in relatively cushy positions. Schalke are in eighth place and while a Champions League place is out of reach, a Europa League spot is grabbable. Augsburg, meanwhile, are somehow four points clear of the relegation play-off spot in 14th place. Chances are that if you heard about one result from the Bundesliga's return, it was Schalke's. They were humiliated by bitter rivals Borussia Dortmund in the Revierderby, losing 4-0 and being thoroughly outclassed in the process. Bamboozled by the combination play of their opponents, Schalke were well off the pace. It looks as though they have hit rock bottom - which could mean that the only way is up. 

Augsburg also lost their comeback game, going down 2-1 at home to Wolfsburg. They were missing coach Heiko Herrlich due to a ban he received for breaking quarantine to buy toothpaste and skin cream. Against Wolfsburg, they succumbed to a bit of stoppage-time brilliance by Kevin Mbabu. This time, they'll be facing a red-faced Schalke side desperate to redeem themselves after their high-profile wedgie. Schalke have won four of their last six matches against Augsburg. We see them improving that record with another victory on Sunday.
