Liverpool are European Champions, top of the Premier League and soon to play in the Club World Cup. However, a loss in Salzburg could see them knocked out of the Champions League. Liverpool top the group on ten points, one ahead of Napoli and three clear of their opponents. They beat Salzburg 4-3 at home but were 3-0 up at one stage in the game. A defeat here and Napoli beating Genk at home would knock Liverpool out unless it was another high-scoring defeat such as 5-4. Liverpool continue to be impressive in the Premier League with win after win. They have been utilising their squad in recent games due to their hectic schedule. Away form in this group has seen them lose to Napoli but beat Genk but they have lost five of their last nine Champions League away matches.

Red Bull Salzburg go into this game knowing they will at least be in the Europa League in the new year. They'd rather be in the Champions League though but have to win this game to have a chance of doing that. Liverpool and Napoli are both renowned for their high scoring but it is Salzburg who have the most goals in this group. They've scored 16 in five matches with eight of them scored at home. Salzburg beat Genk 6-2 at home but lost 3-2 to Napoli. They are top of the Austrian Bundesliga and scored five at the weekend. Home form has seen them lose just that game to Napoli this season. This is going to be tough for Liverpool but a bet on over 2.5 goals in the game looks the safest way to make a profit
