Real Madrid begin this match bottom of their Champions League group. They have just one point from two games, a point behind opponents, third placed Inter Milan. They got off to a poor start in this group going 3-0 down at home to Shakhtar Donetsk. They fought back but still lost that game 3-2 making it just one win in their last seven home Champion League games. More problems occurred in their second group game away to Borussia Monchengladbach. With just three minutes of normal time remaining, they were 2-0 but miraculously scored twice with a 93rd minute goal getting them a point. Now they take on Inter Milan in consecutive games and one of these giants of European football could well be heading to the Europa League if not getting good results. Real won at the weekend with a dominant 4-1 home win over Huesca. They don't seem to be able to transfer La Liga form to the Champions League though with no wins in their last four matches in this competiton, losing three of them.

Inter Milan have drawn both of their two games in this group but struggled to do so. It took a 90th minute Lukaku goal to get them a 2-2 home draw with Borussia Monchengladbach in their opening fixture. That was followed by a goalless draw at group leaders Shakhtar Donetsk. Inter had to leave it late again in their latest Serie A game. A 92nd minute goal rescued them at home to Parma, getting them a 2-2 draw after trailing 2-0 with 26 minutes remaining. That result took them to fifth in Serie A with one loss (to leaders AC Milan) in six games. That was their fourth draw in six games though, they'd probably settle for another in Madrid. Only one of their last six away Champions League games have been won. Three of the last four have seen both teams score and that's the tip for this match.
