PSG vs Rennes Predictions & Betting Tips (Ligue 1)

This week in Ligue 1, we are in store for a crucial top-half battle between defending champions PSG and European Cup qualification hopefuls Rennes in what should be an entertaining match on Sunday at Parc des Princes. PSG has gotten back to their dominant selves in league competition and has opened up a 10-point gap between themselves at the top of the league and their closest contenders Marseille in second. The hosts have a tally of 66 points in 27 matches. After their Champions League disappointment against Bayern Munich last week, PSG bounced back strongly to beat Brest 2-1 in their last match, bringing their league win streak to four matches. The Parisians remain unbeaten in 13 home league matches this season, with 11 wins and two draws, taking their tally to a whopping 35 matches since their last defeat on home soil, including 30 wins and five draws. 

Rennes, on the other hand, played out a stalemate against Auxerre in their last match, which saw them maintain their fifth spot in Ligue 1 with 47 points in 27 matches. The visitors are nine points behind Marseille in the second Champions League qualification spot and just one point above Lille, who is the first side outside the Europa qualification places. Over their last six matches, Rennes has won two, drawn one, and lost three, but their major Achilles heel has been their away record, where they’ve only managed to take 14 of a possible 39 points (W3, D5, L5). However, Rennes did win the reverse fixture in January 1-0 but now face a mammoth task of ending a 35-match unbeaten run of their opponents at the Parc des Princes.
