The NLCS is set to get underway with the Philadelphia Phillies hosting the Arizona Diamondbacks for the first of this seven-game series. A spot in the World Series against either the defending champion Astros or Rangers awaits the winner. The Phillies enter game one of this series as arguably the hottest team of the final four playoff participants. They started their playoff run by sweeping the Marlins in the Wild Card before causing a big upset over the Braves in the NLDS. Atlanta, who finished with a league-best 104 wins, proved no match for red-hot Bryce Harper and company as Philly cruised to a 3-1 series win. The win was secured with a 3-1 game four victory to close out the series. Zack Wheeler will get the start for Philly and finished the regular season with a 13-6 record, 3.61 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP. 

The Diamondbacks have yet to lose a game in the playoffs after sweeping the Brewers in the Wild Card and the LA Dodgers in the NLDS. They finished the regular season second in the NL West with a record of 84 wins and 78 wins. Of the remaining four teams, Arizona has the worst regular season record. However, as we’ve seen countless times, the MLB Playoffs are often determined by which team is able to get hot at the right time. Arizona certainly fits the bill in that respect with their current five game winning streak. The Dbacks’ pitching and bullpen has been superb in the postseason so far as they have yet to allow more than three runs in a game. They rank tied for second with a team ERA of just 2.20. Starting game one for Arizona will be Zac Gallen who was 17-6 in the regular season with a 3.47 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP.
