Norway can get their 2024 Men's European Handball Championship campaign off to a winning start. They take on Poland in Group D with the other two countries being Slovenia and the Faroe Islands. The top two in the group go into the main round of this tournament. Norway have never reached the final of the European Championships with their best performance being a third place in 2020. The last championships were held in 2022 with Norway finishing in fifth winning six of their eight games. That made it 14 wins in their last 17 games played in the European Championship Finals. Last year saw them also finish fifth in the World Championships, winning seven out of nine games. Eight of their squad have played over 100 internationals with their top scorer being Sander Sagosen who is only seven goals short of 800.

Poland have only reached the semi-finals of this tournament on one previous occasion. That was 14 years ago when finishing in fourth place. The last European Championships in 2022 saw them get through their group but were beaten in the main round after losing four of their seven matches. Last year saw the World Championships held and Poland won three and lost the same number of matches making their exit in the main round. Sweden are the favorites here and rightly so, we predict they will win and recommend backing them on a -4.5 goals handicap.
