Newcastle had a good win at Sheffield United on Thursday evening to move up to 11th in the table. They look to win their second game in a row, which is just what 17th placed Southampton have done in the past week. United are only four points behind the Europa League place but still only five above the relegation zone. Their form is good coming into this game though with a draw against Manchester City followed by that win at Sheffield United. Home form has seen United undefeated in their last six league games.

Southampton have had a great week with home wins over both Watford and Norwich City. Both those opponents are in the bottom three, so this trip to Newcastle will be a lot harder. The Saints are now out of the bottom three, a point above Everton and only four behind Newcastle United. Their away form isn't that good though with only two wins in seven games and just two points earned from the last four with seven goals conceded. Both sides have had a good week but United look to be in the better form considering the teams they have earned points against. Go for a home win in this match.
