The New York Knicks are set to play host to the Cleveland Cavaliers at Madison Square Garden on matchday one of the NBA regular season. This is an Eastern Conference clash. Here's our match prediction. 

The New York Knicks had an impressive run in the 2024-25 NBA regular season. The home team managed to secure third place in the Eastern Conference table with a 51-31 record.

Thanks to that finish, John's men were able to book a ticket in the play-offs. During this run, they eliminated the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics. However, they failed to progress to the finals after suffering a 4-2 series defeat against the Indiana Pacers in the semi-finals.

As preparation for the current campaign, they navigated five preseason games. Their performance was terrific, winning four of those outings.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were a force to be reckoned with in the previous season, recording 64 wins and suffering 18 losses in 82 games.

Kenny Atkinson's men reached the play-offs, but the champions suffered early elimination. In the quarter-finals, they suffered a 4-1 series defeat against the Indiana Pacers.

It is fair to say that their preparations for the current campaign have not gone as planned. In the preseason, the visitors began with three consecutive defeats before beating the Detroit Pistons 118-100.
