An in-form Nathan Aspinall will meet Benjamin Reus in the fifth match of the opening round at the Nordic Darts Masters on Friday night. The Asp is the number six-ranked player in the world, while the Flying Star is ranked 92nd. Let’s get into the match prediction. 

Nathan Aspinall will be in fine spirits entering this competition, having clinched the European 8 title over the weekend, beating Damon Heta 8-6 in the final. 

The Asp has been in sensational form over the last two months, having secured his first-ever Premier League Playoff berth this season by finishing in third place in the league phase. 

Aspinall has won nine of his last 11 matches across all competitions, with his only two defeats in that time coming against the top two players in the world, Luke Littler and Luke Humphries. 

Meanwhile, Benjamin Reus’s last televised performance came at the Players Championship 16, last month, where he bowed out in the second round to a 6-0 hiding by Ricardo Pietreczko. 

That result marked the Flying Star’s fourth defeat in his last five games, while he has only won four of his last 20 matches across all competitions since early March. 

While Reus has never faced Aspinall in the past, all indicators suggest that he faces a mountain to overcome the red-hot Asp, given the form the Englishman is in of late.
