The Milwaukee Bucks start the defence of their NBA Title. They host the Brooklyn Nets who are the favourite with most bookies to dethrone the Bucks. Milwaukee won the title last season and it was the Nets that they beat 4-3 (after being 2-0 down) in the semi-finals. If we get a match like any of the seven in that semi-final, then we're in for a treat. Giannis Antetokounmpo will again be the top player for the Bucks as they stick mainly to the team that was so successful last season and only lost ten out of 36 home games.

Brooklyn will be without Kyle Irving who still hasn't had his vaccination. He can't play home games because of that, but while he cannot be a "full-time member of the team," he's not playing away from home either. It's a big loss for the Nets and being without one of the top scorers in the NBA isn't going to help them at all. Harden and Durant are still going to cause a major threat though as long as the new rules aimed at cutting out foul-baiting don't hinder Harden too much. New signings appear to have strengthened their squad and they could well live up to that favourites tag when the Irving situation is resolved. In the meantime, back the Bucks to get their season off to a winning start.
