This Game 5 of the 2025-26 PBA Commissioner's Cup semi-final series sees Meralco Bolts lock horns with TNT Tropang 5G on Friday. Meralco Bolts clapped back to tie the series 2–2 in Game 4, but our prediction here goes against the Bolts due to their relatively shallow experience in the competition and underwhelming record in recent meetings with TNT.
Meralco Bolts responded with a 101–90 victory in Game 4 on Wednesday to chalk off TNT Tropang 5G’s 2–1 series lead. TNT import Chris McCullough topped the game's overall scoring chart, netting 24 points. Patrick Gardner led the Bolts’ scoreboard with 20 points followed by CJ Cansino with 17.
Despite Wednesday's impressive performance, there are reasons to be cautious about Meralco’s chances in Friday's matchup. They have largely been inconsistent dating back to the elimination round, alternating between wins and losses in their last seven games (W3, L4).
Meanwhile, TNT Tropang 5G will be confident of retaking the lead in the series. Wednesday's loss was just their second defeat in their last six games and they hold a dominant 12–4 record in their last 16 matchups against the Bolts.
Katropa have more PBA experience than Meralco. They won this competition last season for the third time and boast 11 PBA championships overall. Meralco have one championship title and are yet to clinch the Commissioner’s Cup.
