Tabilo is 74th in the live rankings and has a 17-11 hard court record this year. He recently reached the final of the Guangzhou Challenger Tour tournament. That was followed by winning seven matches to lift the trophy in the ATP Tour event played in Chengdu.

His wins included victories over Jordan Thompson, Luciano Darderi, Christopher O’Connell, Brandon Nakashima and Lorenzo Musetti. The Chilean lost in round one in Tokyo but won two qualifiers in this tournament, both in straight sets.

Marcos Giron is 50th in the live rankings, 13 places below his career-high. The 32-year-old also lost in the Tokyo first round, going down in three sets to Sebastian Korda. He was a quarter-finalist in the Chengdu tournament that Tabilo won.

This year has seen him win 17 of his 28 hard court matches with four quarter-finals reached. This could be a close match between the pair and our prediction is for over 21.5 games to be played.
