Only once since 2014 has Manchester United failed to make it into the fifth round of the FA Cup. They are the current cup holders and host Leicester City in the fourth round of this season's competition. Can the Foxes cause a shock? Here's our match prediction.

Manchester United beat Arsenal in the third round after a penalty shootout. They remain an inconsistent side but are playing better in cup competitions than they are in the Premier League. The Red Devils have already beaten Leicester twice this season and will be hoping for a hat-trick this weekend.

Leicester City are in deep relegation trouble in the Premier League. The only time they've lifted this trophy was back in 2021 but in the past six seasons, only twice have they failed to make it to the fifth round. They'll be managed by Ruud van Nistelrooy for this match and the last time these two sides faced each other, the Dutchman was the caretaker boss of United! Will he have a happy return to Old Trafford?

Manchester United - Leicester: Form Analysis

Manchester United are still struggling for wins at Old Trafford. Five of their last six home league fixtures have been lost as the Reds remain in the bottom half of the Premier League. In cup competitions United are a lot more consistent with five games won in the Europa League and Carabao Cup.

Two games against Leicester this season (both at Old Trafford) have seen them put eight goals past the Foxes. Their fans must wish they could play Leicester every week!  There have been plenty of goals in home games with eight of the last ten having over 2.5 goals scored in them.

City are out to cause a shock.

Leicester City have a weekend off from their Premier League relegation battle. They beat Championship side QPR 6-2 at home in the third round. In the Premier League though, they have lost eight of their last nine games, the other a 2-1 win at Tottenham.

11 of their last 14 matches have seen over 2.5 goals scored and we should see that stat come up this weekend.

Manchester United & Leicester Squad Analysis

Manchester United will hope for a better FA cup performance than they managed in the transfer window. Marcus Rashford has gone on loan to Aston Villa and United failed to make an major new signings.

Dorgu could make his debut for United.

Tyrell Malacia has also gone out on loan but they did sign Patrick Dorgu and he could make his debut on Friday. Lisandro Martinez is out for the rest of the season after tearing his ACL last weekend.

He joins long-term injured Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Jonny Evans. In goal may be Altay Bayindir who played in the third round win at Arsenal.

Ruud van Nistelrooy makes his return to Old Trafford and also has several selection problems. Wilfred Ndidi is still out injured but could return later this month. Ricardo Pereira and Abdul Fatawu will also be missing.

Last weekend saw Mads Hermansen make his return to the side. It's not certain if he'll play in this match. Jakub Stolarczyk may be recalled to the starting line-up.

Our Manchester United vs Leicester Prediction

The FA Cup is important to Manchester United this season. It represents one of only two real chances of qualifying for European football next season. They have been a lot more reliable in cup competitions this season and will hope to reach the last 16.

Leicester City are having a miserable season and an immediate return to the Championship is looking likely. They had a comfortable win in the third round of this competition but now face a much tougher task than QPR at home.

Our main Manchester United v Leicester prediction is Manchester United to win and over 2.5 goals.
