The biggest news of the past weekend was Manchester City’s loss at home to Manchester United in the Manchester Derby. The defeat ended a fine run for City and they’ll be looking to restart another one when they host Southampton. City head to this game still topping the table with 65 points while Southampton have 33 points, in 14th place. On Sunday, City failed to score for the first time in 23 matches as they lost 2-0 to Manchester United. That loss also brought to an end a 21-game winning streak and an unbeaten run of 28 matches. City are 11 points ahead of the second placed side and will still be in good shape when Southampton comes touring. Sergio Aguero is back and should start in this game, having sat on the bench for the entire 90 minutes against United. The Citizens have eight wins in nine home league matches and have scored at least two goals in six of their last 10 league matches at home. Southampton beat relegation threatened Sheffield United 2-0 in their last match and will head to this game looking to squeeze more points in their push for a higher finish. The win over Sheffield United sent the Saints seven points above the relegation zone and survival is now within sight. They will however have to plan for this clash without their lead scorer Danny Ings, who left injured in the Sheffield United win.
