The Premier League is back after the international break and Champions Manchester City will have their focus trained at the top of the table when they host Burnley on Match Day 8. City have 14 points, two behind leaders Chelsea and are placed third while Burnley are 18th, with just three points. City will be back home after three straight away matches and they will be keen to make it count as another three straight away games await. They haven’t won in their last two outings, the most recent, a 2-2 draw with Liverpool, having to come from behind twice. They have conceded two goals in each of the last two matches, but that was against really top opposition. Going to this game, they are unbeaten in six league matches, keeping five clean sheets in that run and winning without conceding in four. Against Burnley, City have eight straight wins and are unbeaten in 13. They have won to nil in seven of their last eight meetings.

Burnley are coming from two straight draws and their only win in the season has come in the League Cup. They have just one outright win in nine matches so far in the season and are one of the four teams in the league without a win. The Clarets are also one of the poorest scorers in the league; after seven games they’ve scored five, that’s nine lesser than Manchester City’s tally thus far. Their poor stretch in the league dates back to last season; in the last 10 matches they have no win, and seven losses.
