The English Premier League finally makes its return. Manchester City are second in the table but with not a hope of winning the title but will want to beat ninth placed Arsenal. There won't be fans cheering the teams on but we're just glad to see matches resuming. City have already won the EFL Cup and are looking good for a place in the last eight of the Champions League. Whether they will be able to play in next season's competition will soon be decided. They are 25 points behind Liverpool and not even a game in hand is going to see them retain their title. City are four points clear of third placed Leicester City with a game in hand, so second spot can be achieved with a good run-in. Before the season was suspended, City had won two and lost two of their last four league games. Their last league fixture was a 2-0 loss at Manchester United. Home form is still incredibly strong with with nine wins out of 13 in the Premier League and have won four of the last five.

Arsenal resume the season eight points behind fourth place. They will be hoping for a good end to the season that will ensure a place in the Europa League. That can be achieved via their league position or winning the FA Cup. Arsenal were in good league form before suspension with three straight wins and an unbeaten run of eight in the Premier League. They are yet to lose a league game this year but still have to play each of the top three, so not an easy run-in. Those three wins all came at home and the highest placed team beaten was Everton who are 12th. Away form has again been a disappointment for them with just two wins in 13 league fixtures. They are not going to become a top four side again with that kind of away record. Their last five away league matches have all been drawn and six of the last seven but that includes games against sides such as Bournemouth, Norwich City, Burnley and Crystal Palace. City can make this a winning return.
