The final match in the first round of the MTN8 will come from the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, where Mamelodi Sundowns will play host to Richards Bay FC on Sunday afternoon. Masandawana won the PSL title last season while the Natal Rich Boys finished eighth. Let's get into the match prediction. 

The 2024-25 season was another incredible one for Mamelodi Sundowns. They won the PSL title for the eighth consecutive season and reached the CAF Champions League final before winning the hearts of onlookers at the FIFA Club World Cup.

However, despite their dominance domestically, the Brazilians have not won this trophy since 2021, with Orlando Pirates clinching the title in the last three editions.

Still, the hosts are massive favourites to progress to the next round given their stellar home form, unbeaten in their last six home games across all competitions.

Meanwhile, last season was an extremely progressive one for Richards Bay, as they managed to finish in the top half of the table after flirting with relegation in the previous two seasons. 

The Natal Rich Boys have never qualified for the MTN 8 in the past, and they will be hoping to carry their form from the end of last season into the competition. They were unbeaten in their final three games last term and kept clean sheets in each of those matches. 

While the visitors won their last two league away games last season, those followed a seven-match winless run. They have also lost each of their last eight matches against this opponent.
