This season began with Lyon taking part in the Champions League qualifying rounds. They beat Sparta Prague before being beaten 3-2 on aggregate by Fenerbahce in the play-off round. Of the four matches they played, both teams scored in three of them.
Lyon are fourth in Ligue 1 with three wins, a couple of draws and one loss. That sole defeat came in their most recent league fixture when they were beaten 2-1 at Lens.

They suffered a setback at the weekend with a 2-1 loss at Lens. Lyon will be without three key players for this match. Moussa Niakhate, Mohamed Ouedraogo and Lois Openda will all miss this match.
