On Match Day 3 of the UEFA Champions League, Lokomotiv Moscow will be at home to play host to Spanish side Atletico Madrid in Group A this Tuesday. Hosts Lokomotiv are still searching for their first win after two matches in the group, and are placed third with a point. Meanwhile, Atletico recovered from their opening loss to Bayern Munich, with a 3-2 win over Salzburg and are placed second on three points. Heading here, Lokomotiv have had a very poor run; they are winless in their last four matches, and the last three have all ended in defeat. They have conceded two goals in each of their last four matches though they have scored in each of their last eight matches. The Russians have one clean sheet in their last six matches and after a good fight against Bayern in the last Champions League match, they will feel capable of handling Atletico Madrid. Going to this clash, Lokomotiv suffered a second straight loss in their domestic league, falling 2-1 to Sochi, extending their poor form in the campaign. Perhaps the big positive from the loss will be the fact that Anton Miranchuk managed to score for the second straight match, as he is expected to be a key man going to the Atletico game. With two straight home losses though, they will need more than Miranchuk’s fine form. Their form has been even poorer at home in Champions League matches; Lokomotiv have lost each of the last four at home and seven of the last eight. The last time Atletico played them in Russia, it ended 2-0 in favor of the Spaniards.

Atletico Madrid on their part, march to this match after three straight wins. Their most recent came after complete dominance over Osasuna in La Liga on Saturday, ending in a 3-1 win as Joao Felix starred again, scoring four goals in two matches. It has so far been a good season for the Spaniards, the only negative being the 4-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the first game of this group. They have scored two or more in the three matches coming after the heavy loss in Germany. While Atletico have been dominant in most of their matches this season, they seem to be struggling to keep clean sheets in recent times. They have one clean sheet in their last four matches. In their last Champions League match, Atletico had to come from behind to beat Salzburg 3-2, a result which has left them without a clean sheet in four straight Champions League matches. They will however be happy to have won their first of three Champions League outings but heading to Russia, they hope to better the run away from home. In their last five away matches in this competition, Atletico have four losses and even in their one win in that run, they were not entirely confident.
