Liverpool vs Southampton Prediction & Betting Tips - FA Cup

Liverpool face Southampton in the FA Cup 5th Round on Wednesday night at Anfield, with kick off scheduled for 8pm. Jurgen Klopp's team will receive a rapturous welcome from their home support after their incredible 1-0 win in the Carabao Cup Final over Chelsea on Sunday, a victory achieved with five young players on the field that have played just a handful of games for the Reds between them. Jurgen Klopp has already indicated that he isn't sure which players will have recovered enough to play against Southampton, but the fact he took off a number of first team stars for the youngsters, suggests that he has this fixture in mind. Liverpool have lost just once since 2017 in front of a crowd at Anfield in the Premier League (a 2-1 defeat to Leeds last season) and despite their exertions at the weekend, Klopp's Kids are the bookies strong favourites to win this one. 

Southampton boss Russell Martin will know the size of the task facing his team as they travel to Anfield for this 5th Round tie. The Saints last win at Anfield was in. the 2017 League Cup semi final, when they won 1-0 but since then, Liverpool have won ten of the 13 games played, with Southampton winning just the one. Furthermore, Martin's team come into the game on the back of two successive home defeats in the Championship to Hull City and Millwall (both by a 1-2 scoreline) and with three defeats in their last four league games, they have hit the skids at just the wrong time. It is wrong to write the visitors off though as for the most part this season, they have been excellent and if Liverpool's team selection is very weak, then they could have a real chance of an upset.
