Both of these clubs are still looking for their first win in the 2026-27 Premier League season. Liverpool drew their opening fixture, while visitors Nottingham Forest lost at home to Leeds. With home advantage, our prediction is The Reds will get the win here.
Liverpool finished fifth in the Premier League last season. The defending champions ended 25 points behind Arsenal and 18 adrift of second place. Slot was removed as coach and replaced by Andoni iraola who had previously been in charge at Bournemouth. There have been several other changes during the summer, including the departures of Salah and Robertson. Now they play their first home league game of the season at Anfield.
Nottingham Forest also have a new coach who was at another Premier League club last season. Glasner has moved to the City Ground from Crystal Palace and the Tricky Trees will hope for a better season than last term when they finished 16th, only five points above the relegation zone.

Liverpool - Nottingham Forest: Form Analysis
Liverpool began the new Premier League season with 2-2 draw at Newcastle United. It was an emotional day following the recent death of Kevin Keegan who meant so much to both of those clubs. The Reds trailed twice in that game and needed a 99th minute penalty to salvage a point.
Last season saw Liverpool fail to successfully defend their Premier League title. They were never really in title contention, but did manage to secure another season in the Champions League. It wasn't good enough to see Slot keep his job though.
In the 2025-36 season, Liverpool won ten of their 19 home league fixtures with six draws and three defeats. They were unbeaten in their last six home league matches at Anfield, since being beaten by Manchester City.
Tough start for Forest.
Nottingham Forest spent a lot of last season in the relegation zone or just above it. They finally secured safety, but also decided it was time to change their coach. That's something they tend to do a fair amount with three bosses in charge last season.
Oliver Glasner is now in charge and his new club made a disappointing start to the new season with a 1-0 home loss to Leeds United. That was followed by another home loss to Leeds, this time 2-0 in the Carabao Cup.
They won seven away league games last season, but were beaten nine times.

Liverpool & Nottingham Forest Squad Analysis
Liverpool had mixed results in pre-season as they adapted to life under their new coach. There has been plenty of activity in the summer transfer window with the £120 million signing of Bradley Barcola being the most recent addition. This could come too soon for him to make his debut.
The home side have also signed Jacquet, Munoz and Araujo (on loan), but seen the departures of Mo Salah, Curtis Jones and Andy Robertson.
Delap arrives at the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest made a record signing this week with Liam Delap joining them from Chelsea.
The arrival of Ousmane Diomande has also strengthened their squad. Strker Chris Wood was so successful two seasons ago but battled with injuries last term. He is fit again now and his being available more regularly this season is almost like a new signing for Forest.
The major departure from the City Ground has been Elliot Anderson to Manchester City and he will be missed.

Our Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest Prediction
It's been a difficult start to the season for Nottingham Forest. Two home league and cup games have been played against Leeds and both were lost without them getting on the scoresheet. The loss of Anderson is a major blow for them.
Liverpool had to come from behind twice to get a 2-2 draw at Newcastle United last week. They won at Forest in February of this year, but won't want a repeat of last season's 3-0 home loss to them. Our main Liverpool v Nottingham Forest prediction is Liverpool wins.
