It's the final day of the 2025-26 English Premier League and Liverpool host Brentford at Anfield. The home side are fifth in the table with their opponents being in ninth place. A home win for the Reds will clinch their place in next season's Champions League. However, Brentford will be going all out to prevent them doing that as the Bees could yet qualify for Europe themselves. Current form and home advantage lead our prediction to be a home victory.
Liverpool will finish in fourth place if they win this match and Europa League winners Aston Villa lose at Manchester City. They are three points ahead of sixth-placed Bournemouth (away at Forest) but have a better goal difference. This will also be an emotional weekend with Mo Salah and Andy Robertson departing the club.
Brentford have struggled in recent weeks but they could yet be playing Conference League football next season. The Bees are only behind eighth-placed Chelsea on goal difference (+3 v +7) but only a point above Sunderland and three ahead of Newcastle and Everton.

Liverpool - Brentford: Form Analysis
Liverpool would not have expected to still be battling to clinch UCL qualification on the final day of the season. Thait is what has happened though after their 4-2 loss at Aston Villa last weekend. The defeat meant they have gone three league games without a win, conceding eight goals.
The Reds have won ten of their 18 home league games this season with three being lost. They have gone five unbeaten in the Premier League at Anfield since being beaten by Manchester City in early February.
Liverpool will be looking for revenge on Sunday.
Liverpool have won their last six home matches against Brentford. You have to go all the way back to 1937 for the last time they lost at home to the London club. They did however lose the reverse fixture this season 3-2 but that ended a run of five straight Liverpool victories.
Brentford are still holding onto their dream of qualifying for a first ever campaign in European football. It has been a struggle in recent months though with only two of their last ten league fixtures being won and just 12 points earned.
Last weekend saw the Bees held to a 2-2 home draw by Crystal Palace. Over 90 minutes, seven of their last ten matches have ended in draws. They have won six away league games this season but been beaten ten times.
Five of those away league wins have come in their last ten matches but they have lost their last two.

Liverpool & Brentford Squad Analysis
Will Mo Salah make one final appearance for Liverpool? The Egyptian hasn't been in the best of form this season but has already done more than enough to become a Liverpool legend. Relations between him and coach Arne Slot are a bit strained but it is likely he and Andy Robertson will get some playing time this weekend.
The Reds will be without Hugo Ekitike and Conor Bradley for this match. It hasn't been the best of first seasons at Anfield for Alexander Isak but he may start this match against Brentford. Alisson may also return from injury but Jeremie Frimpong is a doubt.
Keep an eye on the other scores.
This has the potential of being a thrilling match and a lot will depend on what happens in the other Premier League games. All ten games this Sunday have a 16:00 UK time kick-off. Imagine the possible panic if Bournemouth were to take the lead at Forest!. Other scores are bound to influence how these two sides play.
Brentford will also have their eyes on other scores, especially the Sunderland v Chelsea game. Brentford would love that to end in a draw. They failed to beat Crystal Palace at home last weekend and that has really hit their European qualification chances.
They need Igor Thiago to add to his 22 goals this season but has only scored one in the last five and not in an away Premier League game since February. He was on target in the reverse fixture and if he does score again, it could be an early strike as four of his last six Premier League goals have come in the first half.

Our Liverpool vs Brentford Prediction
Liverpool have failed to build on the Premier League title that they won last season. There have been far too many goals conceded and 12 league losses. One final push is needed to guarantee them Champions League qualification unless Bournemouth fail to win at Nottingham Forest.
The Reds will be glad this is a home fixture as their form at Anfield has been strong. Brentford still have a chance of European football but their current form is not good and that's why our main Liverpool v Brentford prediction is Liverpool wins.
