Leicester City have had a torrid time in their recent matches and will welcome the Europa League break, as they switch attention to their Group G home game against Ukrainian side Zorya. After a fine start to the season, winning the opening two games, it has been downward for Leicester, and they head to this game with three defeats in their last four matches. They were eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Arsenal but recovered to thrash Manchester City 5-2 in the league. However, in their two matches that followed, both at home, they were beaten 3-0 by West Ham United and 1-0 by Aston Villa most recently. They also have injury problems with key men Jamie Vardy, Wilfred Ndidi and Caglar Soyuncu ruled out. Leicester have lost each of their last three matches at home and won just one of five. They will do with a break here as they face another tricky away game afterwards, but without key players they have a history of struggling. After their opening 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, Leicester have not kept a clean sheet in the five matches afterwards. In four of the five, they have conceded two or more goals.

While Leicester City last played in Europe’s second tier club competition in 2000, Zorya have been regulars in the Europa League, though the last two seasons they have exited at the qualifying stage. In 2017/18 they finished third in their group and will hope their experience in the competition lifts them. The Ukrainians have not had a very good start to the season; they have six points from six matches in their domestic league, but go to this game unbeaten in four matches and have failed to score in just one of their opening six matches. The issue with Zorya however, is that they have just one clean sheet, and that came against the weakest team in the league, Lviv, who have one point and are bottom of the standings. Zorya will need to improve from that if they are to get at least a point against Leicester City. They may be more experienced in the Europa League but with just two wins in 12 away matches in the competition, they are bound to struggle at the King Power. Zorya have lost eight of their last 12 away matches in this competition and have just one clean sheet in the 12 games. Seven times in the 12 away Europa League matches, they have conceded two or more goals. However, they have scored in each of their last five away matches in the competition.
