The opening day of fixtures in the Swiss Super League continues on Sunday as FC Lausanne host Winterthur at the Stade de la Tuillere. The Blue and White, managed by Peter Zeidler have had a somewhat inconsistent pre-season will host Uli Forte's FCW knowing that a win would set a positive tone for the new campaign. Will our prediction back the home side to win, or can the visiting Red and White land a notable scalp in this match?
Comparing last season's form tends to give Lausanne the edge. The home side finished fifth in the table amassing 53 points from their 38 games and scoring a solid 62 goals (conceding 54). In contrast, Winterthur required a fine run of three wins in their last five games to avoid relegation, or a relegation playoff, eventually finishing 10th on 40 points from their 38 matches.
Preseason hasn't gone well for Lausanne as they have won just one game and lost three. They started with a 5-2 defeat at home to Stade Ouchy, before a 4-2 win over Etoile Carouge, but then two more home defeats came in the shape of a 2-1 loss to Stade Nyonnair and a 4-2 defeat to RWDM Brussels.
Winterthur in contrast have had a good pre season drawing 1-1 away to Luzern and FC Basel, before earning a 3-1 win over FC Dietikon and most recently a 5-0 win over SC Freiburg's second string.
