La Vuelta - Stage 14 Predictions & Betting tips - La Vuelta
by Matthew Newman |
After the first day in the high mountains on Friday, Stage 14 of La Vuelta is a similar-looking profile with most of the climbing late on in the stage. Our prediction has to look at those who still look to have it in the legs.
As expected, the big pair pulled clear on Friday's stage with Joao Almeida getting the better of Jonas Vingegaard as the only pair able to maintain the pace up the famous Angliru. Vingegaard now has 46 seconds over Almeida in the general classification, with a further 1:32 back to Tom Pidcock. It could easily come down to that pair again.
Since a win on Stage 3, David Gaudu has been very quiet. He came home safely with a couple of his teammates on Stage 13, well down the pack but he could have been saving his energy for a climb he won on in 2020.
There are a string of riders who will be hoping to get into a breakaway on this stage. The usual types like Lorenzo Fortunato, Santiago Buitrago, Mikel Landa, Wout Poels and Harold Tejada are all worth considering as strong climbers.

Our La Vuelta - Stage 14 - La Vuelta prediction
Another Stage of La Vuelta where it is a coin toss whether the GC contenders manage to chase down a breakaway or not. The climb to the finish is not as tough as it was on Friday, so perhaps this will see a break just pull out enough to hold off the GC battle further down the mountain.
This could easily turn into another head to heat between Joao Almeida and Jonas Vingegaard but at the prices, we'll take a chance that a break can get far enough clear. The winner last time the race came here could be the way to go again. Our La Vuelta Stage 14 prediction is David Gaudu each way.
