The nine-year dominance in Serie A is over for Juventus and they get to host the new champions, Inter Milan in a game the Old Lady can’t afford to drop points. Inter, confirmed champs three match days ago, have 88 points, while Juventus are fifth with 72 points. Juventus have had a poor season and are now faced with a stark possibility of missing Champions League football next season. However, they’ve remained prolific in attack, failing to score in just three of the last 15 Serie A games, and 10 of their last 13 league matches have produced over 2.5 goals.

Inter haven’t let up even after winning the title and Antonio Conte seems to be pushing them even more to go for the most points they can. In Wednesday’s 3-1 win over AS Roma, the manager saw it fit to substitute Lautaro Martinez for an apparent lack of effort, a show of what these remaining games mean to the team. Inter have four straight wins in the league, including two after being confirmed champions, and are unbeaten in 20, winning 16 of those. Sampdoria were the last to beat Inter, in January, and it remains their only loss in 32 Serie A matches. They haven’t lost in the last 10 away matches and wins in the remaining two matches will see Inter set their second best points tally since the 97 they managed in 2006/07. After 36 rounds, they have the best defence in Serie A, having conceded 31 goals.
